HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
Forced to be the mother, and father
long days at work she came home, and didn't want to be bothered
the street of a black queen
she covered it up well yet still seen
taken away to prison because she was tryna provide
daily we would see her and i cried
never wanting to leave her side
she was caged like an animal
dressed like a slave
treated like an unhuman being
this wasn't the life for a black queen.
I never knew that she tried to fight for me
because the system lied to me
forcing me to disbelieve
thrown into home after home as they brainwash me
how could this be?
a black prince taken from his black queen.
She struggled every day to be her best
taking less so she could feed her family
with strained knees and back stress
yet this black queen felt blessed
Daily she would pray
for the return of her stray
building up new strength every day
to provide a place for her lost son to stay
a mother trying to make sure her son felt safe
yet after all those years apart
he was once again taken away
No longer a boy
grown into a man
looks more like his father
with the strength of his mother
Anthony yells out loud for all to hear
to my black queen i scream
