Midday Dream
a window is broken
I run into the street
out into traffic
dragging you with
we run down an alley
then we are alone
someone is laughing
it's James, Tim, and Allen
following us in the darkness
we hail a cab
to take us downtown
where the abandoned building stands
we share lunch out of a bag
split five ways
then you go home to bed
taking Steve and Carol with you
out the car window
someone is saying be safe
I watch the tail lights
fade into the night
as everyone drives away
I am standing alone
walking in the street
