Sometimes the dreams
are nightmares
nightmares of fear
fear of waking alone
alone in the darkness
the darkness of this cell
this cell that is still
still as my mind
my mind lost in dreams

on the corner

grandma never
took us in
standing on the sidewalk
panhandling enough money
to get into the 70[???]
money for popcorn
milk duds & soda's
grandpa's short dog
a cottonbowl twist
my brothers and I
we were handsome boys
