Prison

Over the past years, I've learned that being in prison is not just physically being locked behind concrete and metal. Prison is bigger than one's physical captivity and oftentimes we fail to realize that.

A gambler is in prison of his gambling addiction. The same is true with an alcoholic, a drug addict, a prostitute, drug dealer, or domestic abuse victim, or anyone else trapped in destructive circumstances.

Being in a prison of destructive circumstances can be just as bad as being physically locked away for years. Oftentimes we don't acknowledge we're prisoners of our own self-destruction and we sentence to a life bit of heartache, misery, separation from family, friends, and various other relationships, not to mention being consumed with the constant emotional chains that comes with it.

Just because you're free doesn't mean you're truly free. We all have prisons to break free from. What are yours?
