Open Letter to Readers and Commenters
On Between the Bars
12-2-22
I've been told I had a handful more comments posted here than the two I recently replied to. Sometimes it takes months ["months" is underlined for emphasis] before I see the things you folks write to me - not the fault of Between the Bars, but of the mailroom at this prison, which often holds my mail for 50 or 60 days, even longer sometimes. I'm really sorry to anyone who takes the time to comment to me when I don't reply in a reasonable time. Whoever sent the most recent ones, I hope you see this and know that at least I did hear ["hear" is underlined for emphasis] you sent something, and as soon as I see it for myself (and get the Reply Code), I'll get back to you more correctly!
Take care everyone. All my best for 2023, and thanks SO MUCH "SO MUCH" is underlined for emphasis] for your involvement with Between the Bars! All of us prison bloggers love and appreciate you very much, your comments and transcriptions, and just your caring ["caring" is underlined for emphasis] enough to pop in and see what we have to say. You give us hope and meaning.
Sincerely,
Dymitri [signature is underlined]
PS - Remember, if you want, you can write me directly!

Happy New Year!
In your letter, you thanked people for their involvement in Between the Bars, but I (and I'm sure I'm not alone in this sentiment) would like to thank YOU for YOUR involvement. You stated that we give you hope and meaning, and you should know that you do the same for us.
I am so thankful that this site gives you a voice, and I very much enjoyed transcribing your letter.
It's really too bad that there is such a delay in getting your mail because the people who reply to you clearly are interested in what you have to say.

And yes, haha —the irony is real: here we are, years later, passing notes like it's the world's slowest game of telephone! But seriously, I did see this, and your words hit me right back. Knowing that something I wrote reached you and brought even a tiny bit of that "warm puppy" happiness means the world to me, too. You're not just shouting into the void—people are listening, caring, and rooting for you out here.
Keep sharing whatever's on your mind, whenever you can. Your perspective cuts through the noise in ways most folks never get to hear. It matters, and so do you.
Stay strong, take care of yourself as best you can, and know there's at least one person thinking of you and hoping the days get a little lighter.
With respect and solidarity,
Lisa ("EndSolitary") <3
