Sadness

Sadness

So many types of sadness & only one kind of joy,
Broken & abused, became the foundation of a boy.

My confusing search for wisdom,
my journey as a man,
never taught the meaning of love,
only doing what I can.

A heart not full of darkness,
so what is it that you judge,
the hate you think I harbor
will only cause you to begrudge.

My morals & my values,
they don't reside inside of hate,
a monster in that moment
grew a man behind a gate.

As education became paramount,
I studied emotions as I grew.
There was nurtured hate inside a child
but I discovered what was true.

Love,
Kiyoshi

I read a poem that made me think
Loving deeply is like drawing a drink

Love is learned first by feeling it
A fire ain't a blaze, unless it's lit
Love places the other before the self
Love ain't no book, pulled off of a shelf

The opposite of love, sure ain't hate
tho' it may seem so, your side of the gate
More likely it's apathy, this is true
Failing to care, gives no one their due

If someone falls, reach out your hand
Prop 'em up and help them to stand
For one day it'll be your turn to fall
Never love and there'll be no one at all

It's never too late to take a big chance
Life is a lark, it only takes one to dance
Teach love by giving, then learn to give
Open your heart to hurt and truly live
