Marcus, just read your post about "poor communicators"....like the guy who asks questions only to begun a debate, or only to express their views, and then shouts louder and louder. I agree totally with your viewpoint. I usually like to remind them that Hitler was famous for shouting down others during debates. And he only won them because he simply intimidated the other person into stopping and ceding victory. That usually does nicely for me to shut them up. :)

Marcus, got your reply on around July 29. I think this whole setup that betweenthebars has is very cool in concept. Yes, im NC. My name on here is UNCGuy only because I love the UNC Tar Heels. Big college basketball fan. Never went to Carolina. I ended up going to NC State for a short time, then dropping out.

College is a blast. It was too much of a blast, in fact, and I got horrible grades and screwed up my financial aid. But, 7-8-9 years later and I still pay a monthly payment to pay for my student loan for that one year. It was worth it, though, because you're young, have lots of energy and tons of things to do. Work out at the gym, play basketball, hang out, etc. Your housing and food are basically taken care of, etc.

Question: what is a normal day like for you?

I'd write directly, but honestly this system is so much easier and immediate that if I had to send in a physical letter, I'd never get around to doing it.

Take care,

John

Marcus, thanks for your reply. This is regarding your post about the shooting in Colorado. Obviously, horrible stuff. Yeah, there were some people who joke about it. Honestly I think unless you're ever attached in some way to a tragedy like that, you can find humor in almost anything. I think Dane Cook, the comedian, had made a joke he got some bad publicity for. he said that the Batman movie, which is the movie being shown when the shooting happened, was so bad that the people were "like oh, just shoot me." He got a bit of bad response from that one!

I'm against gun control of most kinds. I think in a free society with 2nd amendment freedoms, there will unfortunately be crazies out there. We do, however, need to make sure we keep to the principles regarding guns that our forefathers had. We simply have to be able to resist armed suppression by the government. Sure, the gov has bigger weapons etc, nukes, etc. But the last line of defense against an oppressive government is the right to own firearms. When they take those away, they will have 100% free reign to do whatever they wish.

But of course, it is absolutely horrible what happened. I can't even imagine the horror.

I really really liked this post, Marcus. I think besides what you already listed about reasons why people communicate a certain way, perhaps trying to get a point across to them is impossible because they are only out to hear what they want to hear from you. It all depends on the circumstances and doesnt always become a debate or a set goal of making a point....sometimes it may be just plain pushing to get/hear what they want or to just get you to give in and agree......Please go back and evaluate this post that you wrote, and take yourself back to when you dealt with this even though its on a totally different level than what Im talking about that goes on when people want to be part of my little world. Yet finding this post may be able to help you understand my issue a little more, I hope. Sorry for the replies here but Im trying to go to bed unsuccessfully and its 4:36 am no luck so here I sit, hoping you will go by what you have already learned of me and understand what its like for me to try to communicate the best I can without sounding like a pitiful POS or coming across as mean, when I seriously cannot change something about myself and if i tried- that my life on the line period. You already know what Im talking about that Ive faced, Im not gonna type it for all. Just PLEASE put yourself in MY position, and re-read this post that you wrote when you found it hard to communicate with those who only cared about their say. Much Luv, CC

Sorry if my responses seem a bit "off" today but I have some tests run in January in LOU and well, you know the rest about how I should have went sooner but whats done is done, I was working my butt off and too busy to notice any problems which you also know about. I dont think of this often but cannot just pretend its not possible (again) and I just needed to type it/write it somehow even if Im half asleep (hopefully- its now 4 44 am) and it makes no sense, its just on my mind tonight ALOT due to some things, yet I probably wont think of it again for over 2 weeks cos I dont let myself. Gonna try to just sleep the next 3 hours here. Much Luv, CC
