Downton's Abbey
I've been privileged to see the second season of Downton's Abbey. I was surprised to see that over 30 million people were tuning in to watch the show. The show is on Sundays. I actually thought I might be the only one in the world who watched it (ha ha). But for the most part, it was refreshing to see so many others took interest in the program.
I'm still not sure what the attraction is for me yet. If nothing else, I'm amazed at how the interactions are between the rich and the servants. It's as if two worlds exists within one yet everyone works cohesively for the proprietary of the family's home and reputation.
Other factors stand out to as well. The want to do or be more in life, such as the maid turning secretary; the desire to love by any means as with the chauffeur and Cybal; the ability to be charitable if you can, like opening Downton's Abbey to the wounded soldiers; and loyalty to those you respect, as the maids and servants' dedications to the family.
A lot of the Downton's Abbey series are foreign to me, and the way I've lived my life. But I think that's what appeals to me as well. It's something different. I truly believe one must open his or her mind to new ideas or concepts in order to grow. It's the freshness of this series that has really delighted me.
