Bully

Bully

Recently, there was a gay African-American male who defended hisself from bullies by pulling out a stun gun. The male was suspended from school for having the stun gun, but the issue still remains: What about the bullies?

It is an ongoing theme these days where boys and girls are falling victim to pranks, torture, ridicule, and harassment of bullies. Kids are killing themselves more than ever because of bullies, and the ones who don't feel outcast, depressed, and alone in this world.

I never experienced bullying, but I remember vividly the faces of those I remember it happening to. As a grown man, I wonder why didn't I step in to help. And why was such cruelty taking place anyway? When we're young, we make foolish and selfish decisions, and I think I fit into that category back then. Now that I'm older and use this blog to express myself and let my voice be heard, I'm using this platform to finally speak up.

Men and women of the free world, we can no longer stand by and watch the destruction of our youth due to the mistreatment of bullies. Enough is enough.

For those of you who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, disabled, or simply different, don't stop being who you are. Because you are truly beautiful. I'm sorry that life has been unfair to you thus far, and it's my hopes that all you experience will help you to grow and mature into outstanding members of society.

Bullies, GROW UP!

Hi Marcus

I agree with you completely it's so horrible to think these kids are faced with this kind of torment on a day to day basis, with no one to turn to, no one to hear their pain. As to why you never stood up for people in the past I think that we all ask ourselves that now. At the time maybe it's fear that holds us back, maybe we think they will turn on us, maybe we worry we won't be heard. I think we all fear that feeling of feeling small, insignificant and so when we see someone else suffering from bullying as much as we may feel so so sorry for them, part of us is secretly just pleased its not us! What do you think?

Regards

Louisa

Hi again Marcus!

Thanks for getting back to me, I'm so impressed that you try and keep up with anti-bullying movements, its so important and whatever we can do to try and help we should. I was really touched by what you said about you hope i can extend who I am to help others, that was so nice!. I am currently a nurse so in my way I try to help people, I hope I'm always open minded and compassionate with my patients cause all I want to do is help them wherever I can. I'm actually from Scotland so quite a long way away, isn't it funny how you find you're able to speak so easily to people on the other side of the world basically! As for how I found out about BTB a couple of months ago I was feeling pretty low, I was struggling to find work and friends had moved away and I just felt lost, I know this is nothing compared to the struggles the people on here had been through, but at the time I was just looking to find a way to give back and connect with other people and help any way I could and discuss opinions and read moving stories like yours. Anyway I've rambled on enough, I hope you are well and you stay strong.
