Quite Like You

by Cody Robinson

Today
she looked me in the eye
And today
I know
She saw me for the first time
And if tomorrow never comes
Will everything still be alright
'Cause today
She saw my shame
And knew me for the first time

She said
“I never knew
Never tried, never cried
Until you
Came into my life

I never saw
Never heard, not a word
What was wrong

I never knew
I never knew
Pain like you
I never knew
You”

There I go
Out the door
To a place and a time
That I never knew before
And in my heart
In my mind
Is this world and the girl
And the turmoil I left behind

And the hurt and regret
That I'll never forget
For the tears in her eyes
And these words that she said

She said
“I never knew
Never tried, never cried
Until you
Came into my life

I never saw
Never heard, not a word
What was wrong

I never knew
I never knew
Pain like you
I never knew
You”

Can never go back
Never retract
Everything black

I am a disease
Have no reprieve
Cannot be free

She said
“I never knew
Never tried, never cried
Until you
Came into my life

I never saw
Never heard, not a word
What was wrong

I never knew
I never knew
Pain like you
I never knew
You”
