A Fight for Justice
The system makes it seem like justice is for all. They stand up and make a pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States, and the Republic for which it stands, One Nation Under God, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all. However until the people of the system realize what they are pledging to, mean it, and put it into practice, it will continue to fail for innocent and indigent people.
The judicial system in America does not do their job with integrity. Officers of the law are shooting and killing innocent people, because of a perceived threat. For example, an officer was called to a group home because a handicapped man was acting out. The officer assumed the man had a weapon, and shot and killed him. It was only a pen. How can a pen be mistaken for a weapon? The man was acting out, however it shouldn't have cost him his life. Another example is the T. Martin case, where a security guard's foolish judgement cost him his life. Just imagine how many have lost loved ones due to perceived threats to officers.
The legal system has a habit of not listening to the defendant. They paint their own picture of what they think happened, when they should find out what really happened. I have been fighting to be heard for 15 years.
During interrogation I was not asked if I needed an attorney. I was interrogated for hours. I was not taken into custody after the interrogation. I wasn't taken into custody until a month later.
Pictures were taken of my apartment without a warrant. During the trial the detective that took the pictures claimed he did not know who had taken them, thereby committing perjury.
I requested a second opinion on the cause of death through my attorney, but he refused to ask. The autopsy doctor said he thought Joshua died of blunt force trauma. When questioned if someone might say something different, he said most definitely.
A state witness that had kept Joshua on another incident was on crack. When brought to the attention of DFACS and my attorney, they didn't want to hear anything I said. Their only concern was to convict someone for the crime.
The state was saying I was going to receive a life sentence and never see daylight ever again, even before I went to court.
In Georgia, certain women given more time and are forgotten about. During my fight for justice these past 15 years, I have depleted all financial resources. I need help to fight my cause. By helping me, society is letting their voice be heard that injustice will not be tolerated. Your fight equals fighting for others. If I win with your help, the overturned conviction will set the precedence for other cases. My win will be a win for others, making a difference, fighting for justice.
