Dear Tarah: Thanks for your note; was just mailing these other posts out, so am including this short one for you. I look at it like this, if I overlook that you're indifferent to the despicable mistreatment of people by the government you support (in one way or another), I'm entitled to you overlooking my crimes. Sounds arrogant? Maybe. But, moving on.

Actually, I'm feared + disliked for developing my mind. And, be aware, I find my state intolerable + am NOT nice to those condoning or profiting from it. Don't want ya to think I'm trying to be an angel. Redemption is denied me. So be it, ain't crying. But I can't live in a degraded state.

"The Bells", I've memorized. Was gonna do "The Cells", using that meter/feet, but... so busy with other things, + fear it'd be cheap. "The Raven" is my fav' of Poe's, I guess, b/c I memorized it first. Yeah, it's 15 minutes. :) I used to + still do, sometimes, recite it on the tier for all to hear. I call it "Nate's Culture Hour" - ha! Why, because it's one of the greatest love poems there is. (I like classics, John Donne, e. e. cummings, Pound...) Most think it's just a spooky poem about a raven; no, the Raven's a messenger from Odin (the god of the dead, hanged, poetry, etc.), or, in the Christian view, Satan. The poem's about a tragic loss of love, very intricate in its symbolism. I next memorized "El Dorado", which helps encourage me. - Egad! Yule/Christmas in prison, New Year's too? I slammed a shot of hydroxizine + recited (+ "translated") Burns' "Auld Lang Syne" on the tier. What's your verbal compr. score? Remember, brains are plastic... more later. Take care of yourself, Nate.

P.S. Please hype this press release!

Hello Nate. I've been reading your blog. I like the intellectual points you make about Poe's "The Raven". Hearing you speak about it is like rediscovering a forgotten favorite storyteller, Poe. In High School one of our literature teachers read his short story "ATell-Tale Heart" to us. I was sitting on the edge of my seat anticipating each sentence through the entire short story. She read the story to us with such intensity and emotion we hung on her every word. Thank You for reminding us of one of America's artistic geniuses. No matter what his shortcomings or faults. He is one of our greats. I'm going to make it a goal to try and read all of Poe that I can. I should have done it long ago. Thanks for reminding me of his great stories. You may also be interested in Charles Baudelaire, the French poet who translated Poe's works into french. As well, Arthur Rimbaud, another French poet that influenced modern literature, music, arts and prefigured surrealism. Thank you for your enlightenment. Hope all is well with you. Hang in there. Talk to you later.
