You gotta go back to my opening paragraph where I tell you straight up I don't have any statistics, nor do I have the resources to acquire them. The whole point of my writing the piece was to generate public interest in launching an objective investigation NOT DONE BY THE DEPT. OF CORRECTION. I been in since April 1980.

The Holy Prophet Upon whom is Peace and Blessings would tell instructive stories that are not part of the Holy Qur'an. But even tho they did not arrive as part of Qur'an it does not mean that the actual incident described never happened as the Holy Prophet Upon whom is Peace and Blessings could not lie to us, as Allah was near to him like his jugular vein.

There were three unfortunate men - companions - lamenting to Allah and begging for mercy and relief from their earthly sufferings. One was merely bald, another was a leper, and the third was blind. Allah who answers every supplicant at some level, sent an angel to comfort them. The angel asked the bald man what he wanted of Allah to ease his sorrows. He replied that he wished to have a hairy scalp so that people would be attracted to him. Allah instantly granted his wish. The angel asked him as to what type of property he wanted. The man said he wanted cows. Instantly Allah granted his wish and the newly hairy man now happily drove away his small herd of cows.

The angel then asked the leper what he wanted Allah to help him with. The leper told him he wanted good skin. Allah instantly granted his wish. The angel asked what type of property he wished for and he said camels. Allah granted his wish and the healed leper drove away his small herd of camels.

The angel went to the blind man and asked him what he wished of Allah and he replied he wanted sight - instantly Allah made him sighted. The angel asked what type of property he wanted. He replied he wanted sheep, so instantly Allah granted him a small herd of sheep.

A period of time passed, and the three men had grown in wealth as their herds naturally increased. The angel disguised as a penniless bald man beggar, approached the one formerly bald. The angel asked for alms, food, clothes. The formerly bald man viciously told him to get lost before the neighbors see such a lowly man begging at his doorstep. The angel then asked him "Weren't you that beggar awhile back and weren't you bald then?" The formerly bald man denied it and drove him off his property.

The angel then approached the former leper in disguise as a penniless leper. He asked for alms. The former leper began to drive him off his property similarly as the other had. The angel then asked, "Weren't you that leper awhile back that had no money and then Allah healed you?" The former leper denied it and drove the angel off his property.

The angel then disguised as a blind beggar approached the former blind man and begged for alms. The former blind man took the disguised angel into his home, and fed him, clothed him and invited him to take whatever of his property he so wished, explaining to the disguised angel that all his property was gift of Allah when before he had possessed nothing.#

The angel doffed his disguise and told the former blind man, "Allah is well pleased with you and displeased with your two former companions."

I don't think I am missing the mark to say you sound like a card carrying member of the correction officer union. That's not bad in and of itself. But remember that the Dept. of Correction is a fantastic vehicle for upward financial mobility for many to emerge from the working class. Some people step on the faces of others while climbing the ladder. Others are careful not to because they know on some level in their breast that every pleasure and comfort in this temporary life has to be accounted for on a terrible day of which none of humankind is exempt.

I know my blogs seem to attack the integrity of the DOC when it's only my intention to make some small noises to set in motion some actual correction.
