Snooddood: - Thanks for your comments! Yeah, I guess solitary confinement for extended periods has its benefits! Ha! You have time to educate yourself on whatever topics interest you. Theology and history just intrigue me. Just hope that I can put into practice all that I've been learning now that I'm about to get out of solitary + back to the racism + gang drama of population.
I guess the acquisition of knowledge is the easy part compared with using it amidst trials, temptations and provocations. Especially after a lifetime of living in dissipation, drunkenness, lust and wrath. We'll see how it goes. St James says, "Consider it all joy when you experience trials of various kinds." (James 1:2). Guess if you can adopt that outlook, nothing the world could throw at you would be unwelcome. It always amazes me when I read of various martyrs skipping to their places of torment - burning, boiling, roasted alive, etc... - and they skipped cheerfully along as if going to a picnic. Some, like St. Lawrence - even joking with his torturers as they were grilling him alive! "I think you should flip me over", he said, "this side is about done!" How can the world beat someone like that? It can't. It's just wasting time and energy trying.
Anyways - thanks for the comments!
