YOURS ARE BLUE, MINE ARE BROWN

BLACK, YELLOW AND BROWN,
THAT'S THE COLOR OF OUR PEOPLE...
YOUR EYES ARE BLUE AND MINE ARE BROWN,
DOES THAT MAKE ME LESS EQUAL...
WE LOOK AT THE WORLD DIFFERENTLY,
THROUGH TWO SETS OF EYES...
SLAVERY WAS ABOLISHED,
AND WE STILL HAVE RACISM IN DISGUISE...
ROPES AND TREES, YOU LET US HANG,
WHAT A SPECTACLE...
THEN YOU GO BACK TO YOUR FAMILY, PROUD,
LIKE YOU'RE RESPECTABLE...
NAH, NAH... I DON'T RESPECT THAT,
BUT, I RESPECT MY BLACK NATION...
I ADMIRE MY BLACK PEOPLE,
FOR OVERCOMING THE PROBLEMS WE WERE FACIN'...
I RESPECT OUR BLACK LOVE,
THE ONE THAT BINDS OUR HISTORY...
I LOVE THIS BLACK POWER,
AND NO, IT'S NOT A MYSTERY...
BECAUSE THE MORE THAT I STUDY,
THE MORE THAT I GROW...
AND THE MORE YOU TRY TO HIDE FROM ME,
THE MORE THAT I WANNA KNOW...
SO, I WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU WOULD CEASE,
WITH ALL THAT RACISM, HATE AND LIES...
I KNOW WE LOOK AT THE WORLD DIFFERENTLY,
THROUGH TWO SETS OF EYES...

REFLECTIONS FROM MY SOUL
