Howdy! Thank you so much for your comment. I really appreciate hearing from someone. Unfortunately, I honestly don't have much support from other inmates. For every one that I call "friend", there are a whole group who either refuses to acknowledge my existence or are actively hostile because I'm a BIG FAG. Plus, there's a whole other group who will pretend to be your friend and then f-ck you over, and rip you off the first chance they get. That especially just burns the hell out of me because I have no outside support or funds, and when I get ripped off, it really, really hurts. And a lot of the guys doing the stealing do have outside support or a lot more friends inside who will just give them things.
Then there's the fact that I have really only one friend on the outside who will lend any support, and even that can either take months or is "iffy." Plus, there're the inmates who get out of prison who are your friend, but then suddenly have another life and you are quickly forgotten.
That's why it bugs me so much that we can't write other inmates. I have so few friends and support, and the few that I come across are precious. So why the hell can't we write each other? I am all for having letters between inmates closely scrutinized—hell, they open and inspect (and can read) all our incoming mail anyway. So if it's from another inmate, just check it that much closer. This restriction makes no sense to me whatsoever and is frustrating as all get-out.
Oops... sorry for the rant. But I did want you to see how things really are. Please feel free to comment when you can. It really is great hearing from someone out there.
