Hello World,
Today is a difficult day for most guys. Whether we had no father figure or a poor model of fatherhood now we must face the fact that our children are suffering.

Most men just ignore this day, but it comes out in anger or bitterness. In fact, after church one of the officers had over a hundred men stand in the rain for 10 minutes until well soaked. He tried to say it was because "men were talking" on line and he didn't like it. But this kind of "punishment" is not common, especially upon the church group who prove everyday to being the most respectful toward staff and fellow inmates. It was simply an act of cruelty and you could see in the faces of the other four (4) officers out there they too knew it was wrong and cruel. It's not uncommon when officers are hurting and bitter that they will take out their frustrations upon inmates. Our response is to pray for this man. Because we know the evil that can twist a mans mind to be cruel. Are we not all guilty of this same behavior? Maybe treating our own employees, or our wives or children with undeserved cruelty...

The preacher's message was fitting... That we all have a "perfect" father image found in God above. We can find comfort knowing that what we do tomorrow is not dictated by the mistakes of yesterday.

On other news, last week five (5) men volunteered 2 days to install a new carpet (donated) in the chapel. They were short on tools and only a few replacement blades in the cutter, 4 instead of the needed 20, so most of the work was twice as hard as lots of muscle. They worked so hard and did so well none the less. Only one of the give even attended chapel services. They just wanted to help out and had experience to offer.

...I'll keep trying (7/30/13). I've done no harm to anyone, but my mail is being hindered. The facility is so paranoid all the time of any "outside" communication. I'm really fed up.

D.

David, Thank you for responding to my letter so quickly! My mom has postponed coming to visit until the Spring. I'll write you a full letter soon (it's half done at the moment).
