Dear Readers,
I have some good news to share...
A few months ago the facility I currently reside in was offering scholarships to 30 of the Inmates here, lot's of inmates applied and there was a strict and rigorous screening process because only 30 scholarships were available.
I was in college in my previous institution and loved it. Since coming here they have a different way of applying college and I could not afford it since I only make .8 cents and hour, there was no way I could afford the books and it was just too much to ask my family and friends to help with so I was resigned to not getting my college degree until I paroled, but yesterday I was called to the education department and told that I was chosen for a full scholarship to earn my A.A. degree in Liberal Arts.
I'm on cloud nine right now as I have never won anything in my life. They even offer tutors for any subject you need it in. I could not be happier and it could not have come at a better time in my life. I was just telling a friend of mine how useless being here is. The job I have is fun and it keeps me busy but there is no substance in prison as a whole. Nothing we do as Inmates feels like it matters until now. I suddenly have a purpose in my life and it feels good!!!
Just a quick note
Thanks for listening.
Terra
