Hi Megan! Thanks for sharing your story. When I read stories like yours, I get to see the other side of being a ticket scalper, the effect it has on other people.

I remember I drove to Chicago because the Grateful Dead had a 4 day show there. Anyway, the tickets were sold out. As a scalper, I found a way to find people who had extra tickets and I would buy them from them and resell them to make my profit. Just before I was ready to drive back to my hotel room, I ran into two young women who were looking for tickets. One was crying really bad. After a while, I found out that they had bought tickets off a scalper that were fake. They paid $225.00 for both tickets and they said they didn't even have bus fare to get back home. At the time, I had 3 tickets left and I didn't even think twice about it, I just gave them all 3 tickets. I also gave them $50.00 for them to buy something to eat inside and bus fare for them to get home, and I told them to enjoy the show and I walked away before they could thank me. I'll never forget that! I guess my heart couldn't allow me to walk away from them. Anyway, glad you shared your story with me. Out of curiosity, if you remember, how much did your dad pay for those Elton John/Billy Joel tickets.
