Dear Readers,

Howdy! It's hard to believe it's October. According to my Buddhist calendar put out by the Liberation Prison Project, today is a very unfavorable day. I'm laying low.

As for the latest news... I got a new job. I'm keeping my old job, but now I have two. I think I previously mentioned the possibility of being an ICP - an "inmate companion". Well, yesterday some guy - who was a complete idiot - went to the Hole + so the counselor assigned me to the guy he was working for.

I may regret this. The guy I work for goes by the nickname of "Santa Claus" (he looks like Santa). He's got to be at least 300 pounds if not more, + he most definitely does not keep himself very clean (i.e., he + his cell smell bad). My job is to push him wherever he needs to go in his wheelchair, get his tray, etc., at chow, + IF HE NEEDS IT, clean his cell + do his laundry.

Now, Santa is not decrepit by any means. He's just overweight + has diabetes mainly - possibly a few other ailments related to all this. Yet, he works a full day at Unicor (the prison slave industry) + I'm sure he makes over $100 a month, + probably closer to $200. I will probably get paid around $40 a month to take care of him. This will involve pushing him to various places at: 6:30am, 10:30am (sometimes - to + from lunch), 3:30pm, 5:30pm + 1:30pm. My entire day is shot. Plus, I pay someone else to do my laundry + clean my cell. He can afford to much more than I can, but expects me to. I'm just gonna pay my guy to do his stuff too out of my measly $40.

This is really gonna suck. I'm not sure that this was a good idea. I'm definitely keeping my other job just in case. And obviously I no longer have a day off. Kill me now.

Now I'm gonna bitch about a certain staff member who I believe is delusional + has other mental problems. I previously mentioned the metal detectors that were put in at great expense + zero need at Rec + Education - both of which are mainly ignored now. According to INMATE.com (rumor), this was done at the Captain's insistence. I strongly suspect that he is responsible for the locking of gates between areas of the compound. I now heard that he is responsible for the fact that we can no longer check out exercise mats at Rec, 'cause they're a "security risk" (he's imagining someone using them to go over 2 barb wire fences with rows of coiled barb wire in between. Never, ever gonna happen. Now he's put in a proposal for spending several hundred thousand dollars to put cameras everywhere + metal bars on all the windows.

Compared to most all prisons, this place is a kiddie camp. There are no gangs here. This is where they put Bernie M for Pete's sake! (Mr. Ponzi Scheme). There is no reason whatsoever for all this nonsense just to feed some guy's delusional fantasies at great expense. I would LOVE to know the right person to inform them of this idiocy + put a stop to it. The BOP staff only want to justify their jobs. Does Congress know how their/our money is being spent? Does anyone care?
