Calhoun25: Your comments were appreciated. When Illinois' FOIA laws were revised in 2010, it opened the door to a wide variety of documents - Departmental Rules, Administrative and Institutional Directives, as well as e-mails, etc. - that we have never been able to access before. This has enabled those of us on the 'inside' to challenge a plethora of issues including censorship, substandard food, and most recently, the failure of this facility to properly administer state contracts which were supposed to ensure that prisoners and their families were not overcharged for vending machine purchases in the visiting room. Not surprisingly, the Department of Corrections has been reticent, at best, in enforcing this contract, once I brought the issue to their attention, and the other state agencies who supposedly have oversight in this area have been moving at a snail's pace in responding to my complaints. Any suggestions?
