My Definition of Marriage 5-3-14
When two persons marry, they pledge to love each other for life. This love, in order to live and grow, must be watered by unconditional love. It requires them to love no matter what the opposite does or says. They must love because of who he is or she is.
Unconditional love means we are realistic about our spouse. We should not expect the impossible from them, just understanding. We should not expect perfection, just consideration. By doing this, both parties can labor and transform into the people God wants them to be.
Marital love requires commitment. Our love for God grows because we commit ourselves to Him: in a similar way, our marriages grow because of promises made and those promises kept.
Marriage requires work; it involves self-sacrifice. It involves loving one's spouse more than oneself. Marriage is not emphasis on my rights, it is emphasis on giving myself to another.
Love in a marriage grows when spouses are willing to change. The meshing of two cultures, plus the acceptance of each other's background, shows that willingness to change.
Growth in marriage requires time. Husband & Wife need time to be alone. They need to do special things for each other. They also need to help each other with the routine tasks of life.
Finally, love in marriage involves good communication. Genuine love requires spouses to be totally honest with each other. When hurts and frustrations occur, its important to face them with a loving attitude. Such an attitude will lead to new areas of growth, to a stronger marriage and a clearer witness.
There is no way to witness without love. God is the author of love and His love enables us to reach out to our spouse in like manner.
These are my personal views about marriage which I've been praying to show my future wife. God willing, I'll find a woman who maintains the same beliefs & who's willing to accept my past as just that, my past! Hopefully my present self will override my past self in her eyes.
But step one is : I need to meet her first!

I transcribed your thoughts on marriage and was honestly really touched reading it and seeing how someone can retain such beautiful ideals despite having suffered so greatly. Keep the faith and I hope you'l find her.
