There Was A Time

I have not heard from anyone in a while. I hope everyone out there is well and prospering. :) For those of you who believe in Jesus—I salute you.

Our country is not in good standings withing the world. A lot of people try and pinpoint why our country has become a den of infidels. I too have contributed to this mess. Once, we were fresh, unafraid, and believed. This country was led by God. There's no need to pinpoint our faults. But soon we will all pay a heavy price.

We were once respected in the world's eyes. Now we are in debt to many of them. We are even letting Germany to post up with weapons. A huge mistake on the American people. We are becoming cowards in the world's eyes. How are we going to get back in the political arena without God's blessing?

Starting within our families, we need to start the healing there. Respect somehow got lost in our culture.

Hi James,

I'm one of the slackers you haven't heard from for some time but it's good to see you keep reaching out here regardless. From an Australian perspective, I don't know that American's are being seen as 'cowards'... a bunch of crazy people perhaps!

Your policies on gun control seem completely nuts when there are so many incidents of people losing their lives (our gun laws were restricted after our last mass shooting in 1996, where 35 people were gunned down & we haven't had another mass shooting since) we aren't able to license automatic weapons here at all (because why would you need an automatic weapon other than to kill a lot of people at one time) - one shot is enough to kill a kangaroo or a wild pig & they're the only legitimate reasons to have guns in this country. We don't have the attitude that we 'need a gun for protection' because no one else has one 'for protection', so why would the next guy (seems to make perfect sense outside of the US)

I'll agree respect is something that is lacking across the board (but perhaps that's just me getting older too).

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi because I haven't been around for some time. I hope all is going well. Take care James!

Nicki

James, I am a psychology student & I have been tasked with the assignment to follow one inmate's blog and find out some things about daily life, fears, living with other inmates, victimizations you encounter and other things. I have read many of your letters and I have to say that my heart goes out to you and many others who have made mistakes and are now living out the rest of their years behind bars. I don't know what you did nor do I need to, but I can say that I truly believe that there is good in all people. It seems that you have come to terms with your sentence and you are learning how to cope. I'm glad they have support groups for you guys in there and I hope that they help. I believe that as adults almost all of us have been faced with choices that (if we made the wrong choice) could've landed us in jail. Some of us were more fortunate to grow up with a more supportive family home as others weren't so lucky. I thank God that he has watched over me the way that he has and I just want you to know that not everyone in the world sees inmates as horrible people. I see that some of you just made bad decisions for various reasons. I do wish you well. God Bless - Amelia
