Enough Is Enough!

First and foremost, I will like to send my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives at UMPQUA Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. I will also keep all those affected by this tragedy in my prayers!

Once again, I turn on the television and an assault rifle or handgun toting gunman is gunning down innocent Americans. When is enough going to be enough! Our country is in serious need of a complete overhaul of our current gun laws! Mass shootings have become an epidemic in our country.

It is truly sad to watch people in our country die every day from gun violence! At the hands of a person who likely should not have access to that firearm. Me, coming from an urban community, I understand just how easy it is to acquire a firearm. For instance, if I was released today as a convicted murderer, I am certain I can hit the streets and acquire any firearm I want in less than 24 hours. This is a problem! This is a problem our legislators need to develop the political willpower to address. The Second Amendment gave us the right to bear arms, but when will our right to be safe in our country be recognized? I guess our right to bear arms trumps our rights to breathe!

As I write this, I see several politicians coming out and sending their condolences, expressing their sadness. However, a lot of these same politicians are going to turn around and oppose gun control legislation. I am really starting to see how powerful the National Rifle Association is! I guess what they say is true, "Money is the root of all evil."

We need gun control legislation lawmakers! We did not put you in office to prove your personal political agendas! We put you in office to govern our action, which requires you to pass laws that will help protect us! Enough is enough!
