Dear University of FL, Law Professor:

Greetings! I'm hoping you can assist me with a little project or lead me to someone there at the university that can help me.

See, I'm trying to educate myself and get my GED. The Florida Dept. of Corrections (FDOC) will not allow me to use their teachers and educational programming due to my sentence. I'm under the sentence of death and have been for over 25 years. What I'm doing now, I should have done years ago. But I came in here as a stupid 21-year-old kid. I need this GED in order to get into the Black Stone School of Law's correspondence course and get my paralegal degree.

What I need is a paralegal or law student who could come in here once a week or month to tutor me. My writing skills developed here in this cage over the past 25 years. My educational background is as follows. Never attended pre-school of KG. Barely passed 1st grade, failed 2nd twice, passed 3rd, 4th and 5th. Two weeks into 6th grade (at Wright Elementary in Tulsa, OK), they placed me in the 7th because of my size and being behind two grades. Needless to say, I failed. The next year, instead of repeating the 7th, I started the 9th grade at Byrd Jr. High, all special ed classes. I barely passed. I dropped out of Fernandina Beach High School, FL in the 10th grade at 15 years old.

I'm going to need a lot of help. This is something that I really want to do. I'm willing to put in all the work necessary to accomplish. But I need help. There's so much that I didn't learn due to skipping 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. My goal is to study law, become a law clerk, and advocate for change here in the FDOC. Please help me make this dream a reality.

I hope you will share this letter with others. Even if you can't assist me, maybe you can put this in the hands of an individual who can help me. I'll answer all letters.

Thank you very much for your time and, hopefully, your help.

Sincerely,
Ronald W. Clark Jr.
