Hello!
How are you?
As for me? Well I'm okay, I had an awesome day today. Let me
explain --> I use to live in Charlie dorm (this is the dorm
were the dogs are housed). Then 3 months ago I was classified into
the RTU program which stands for Residental Treatment Unit. So,
what happend was I had to leave Charlie dorm and move into
another dorm to complete a 6 month drug and alcohol treatment
program, really? I mean after being incarcerated for 14 years
I have recieved my:
Ged
CDL commercial drivers license
Enviromental Horticulture
Architectural Drafting
Plus I have trained 8 dogs, 2 of them were service dogs.

I honestly didnt think I would need any help I mean HELLO!
I've been incarcerated for 14 years! So, when I found out 3
months ago that I was coming to the treatment dorm I had
a dog a lab whom I was training to be a fulltime
service dog. When I was classified out to be a fulltime
resident in the treatment program I had to leave the beautiful lab that
I have been training for 5 months. He never learned the speak command
(bark on command) due to the fact that he would never bark. I get
to see him almost every day but sometimes its a couple days here and
there that I dont get to see him on those days when I finally do
see Brodie (thats his name --> Brodie) he jumps all around very happy
to see me.
Well, he seen me today and let me just say he was
so happy to see me. As I walked away --> he started

barking! (smile)
So, as long as rec is open tomorrow I am going
to teach him the speak command. I miss him so much!
He's only across the compound but when your locked up its
amazing how much pride you can get from watching your
dog learn and grow.
So, YES! Today was an awesome day and tomorrow
well tomorrow will be even better.
I hope I hear from someone if not thats okay
too. I know that I have a little journal that I am
starting here and in 8 months for the first time I will be
free and I can have the opportinty to get on
the computer and see what I wrote. Be good!

Hi there Mischelle.
Aww, sounds like you've done a great job with the dog, Brodie. It's him on the picture, I guess - he looks cute. And so do you, too (we can't compliment the dog only, now can we? lol)
I hope you get to see him as much as possible these months you've left in there. Enjoy it as much as you can, and be proud of yourself, you've done a great job!
I've two dogs myself, and the joy they're giving me is priceless. They're always happy to see me, no matter what. Isn't that a good feeling?
According the drug and alcohol treatment program - sounds pretty ridiculous that you have to complete that program after being incarcerated for 14 years, but if that what it takes to get out then it's no other way around, eh. Just sad you had to leave the dog. But be proud of yourself, training a dog is a huge job!

Wishing you good luck! :-)

Hello again Mischelle.. with a 's'. :-)
You know, last time I commented your post, I had to go back to edit your name. I figured someone had spelled your name wrong, until I found your profile page where you specifically had written that your name is spelled with a 's'. So I rushed back to my comment and got it right before it was mailed by Between the Bars, lol - too funny.

The picture that was posted now of you and Brodie is the same as I commented last time. A nice photo, tho. :-)
Awww, so you'll be back with him after your drug program has finished, well that's nice, and something to look forward to.

You said you're learning alot about yourself, is that through the drug program or another program?
Anyway, that's great!
You also said you cried for at least two weeks - it sounds like you got some kind of release. You know, so many things are building up inside us, and at some point it just get too much - it's overwhelming, but at the same time it's not easy to deal with it, to get it out. It affects everything and prevents progress if not released. But it sounds like you found the opening, and that's good news. Programs like that really are useful after all, a great tool along the way.

Listen, apologies for misspellings, I'm living north in Europe and english is not my language at all. Bear over with me. Lol :-)

You take good care of yourself, keep up the good work and give Brodie a hug and a woof! :-)
