Prison Letters 4 our Struggling youth
603 B University Dr. #219
Carson, CA 90746
Dear Youth,
Mother's Day, Father's Day, and my little sister's birthday have all come and gone without me. All I could do is sit on the phone and hear my family tell me how they celebrated these special days. But what hurts the most was when my mother stated, "I will never have a great Mother's Day until you are home." Then she told me my step-father who raised me passed away. This was a heartbreaking phone call. It is devastating to hear my mother sad like that. So what's next? "Thompson, return to your cell," stated the correctional officer. No comforting my mom, no grieving with my family, no going to my step-father's funeral, just four walls!
I never thought about any of this when I was running the streets. Never thought about my mother or grandmother passing away while I am in prison. Never thought getting in trouble could cost me my chance to say goodbye to my mother or grandmother. But this is my greatest fear, and the reality I face every day. Learn from my reality.
In conclusion, if you are thinking about joining a gang or being a gangster, I am telling you from experienced, "It is not worth it!" One day, you will wake up in prison; the money, the women, and the so-called homies are all going to be gone! All you will have is an unhappy family, regrets, and four walls. It's going to be all bad. I'm telling you: prison ain't where you want to be. Go do something positive with your lives. Cherish your freedom, lives, and family!
Sincerely,
Perrie

Thanks for taking the time to write this letter to our youth! You speak the truth. Prison is not a good place for anyone, and most people don't realize how horrible it is. I'm sure at least one person will be helped by your letter.
Hang in there,
j.
