Ain't No Joke

You trying to be funny? Do you see a smile?
Go before a judge, 40 years by slamming his gavel down

You thought it was funny then when you were in trial
Now you're labeled by what they see in your file

Can't call anybody 'cause there's no numbers to dial
Can't get no visits 'cause your family won't travel all those miles

Took freedom for granted. Do you like this prison lifestyle?
Got enough time to sit and think for a while

At first you were filed with a lot of aggression
Now you take medication to help ease some of your depression

Asking God for forgiveness for all of your transgressions
Every Sunday you're in church giving the pastor a confession

You cry and you curse. That makes you feel worse
Thinking you'll make it to heaven because you remembered a Bible verse

Thought it would be fun. Stick a fork in you, you're done
Bet next time you won't be in possession of a gun

So you say you hard. Bigger guys will call your bluff
Toss you all around because you don't weigh enough

No need to huff and puff. You didn't do that when they put you in cuffs
Prison life ain't fun. I thought you said you were tough

You're stuck like a truck. Now you look like a schmuck
A lengthy prison sentence was handed down on your bad luck

Reputation took a blow in a cell with no airflow
You reap what you sow. Prison's a whole different plateau

While you're out there playing and selling all that dope
They're getting your bed card ready. Boy, prison life ain't no joke
