Dear Meagan D-L,

Hi. Just wanted to thank you for writing. And for anyone reading this, I am sorry I use only capital letters. My typewriter is almost 20 years old, and the lower case switch button does not always work when I want it to. So I use all capitals 98% of the time. A lot easier for me. A new typewriter in here costs almost $300 and that's a huge rip-off; I definitely cannot afford that. My mom bought me a typewriter in 1999 because my handwriting is horrible!

Anyway, thank you for writing, Megan. Maybe next time you'll tell 'em a little about you and what you think what I write and say. I like when people voice their opinion, and it is okay if their opinions don't match mine. Any questions you have, please feel free to ask.

I got to talk to my daughter two days in a row. That's never happened in the 19 years she has been alive, so I'm floating on cloud 9. (: She is a good kid, and I need to figure out how to help her. I owe her at least that much. Are you a parent? Any ideas on how to help a teenage girl? Anyone who has advice, I an definitely all ears! I have never been there for Krista, so now I have to step up in a big way.

Our run-a-thon is very soon. We hope to send at least $2,000 to the veterans' homeless shelter. This is what I don't understand: we have millions of homeless in the USA. Our government is not willing to help them, but we are bringing in over 10,000 Syrian refugees, giving them a free house, jobs; government pays their bills; buys their food; gives them free English language lessons; everyone goes to school for free; free cars (this was all on the news last night); but we won't help our homeless here, and we have thousands of homeless veterans. Men and women who served this country but have been abandoned by it. I don't get it.

Don't get me wrong: it is a very nice thing to help these refugee families. I saw some kids on the news and they are so happy. They probably would have been murdered if the USA didn't take them. But when do we start to help our own? Our military vets have a lot of friends, and they need our support. But it seems as if our country, our government, our president wants to help everyone else but the Americans who need the help.

Anyway, what got you to read what I write? I hope I can keep you interested. I like this blog and I love writing. Well, I couldn't sleep very well, thinking and worrying about my daughter Krista, so that's why I was up so early writing.

Time for me to go. Take care. I look forward to hearing from you again. Hope you continue to read me. God bless. Ciao.
