To Our Nations and Continents
We Appreciate You!
I want to apologize as American citizen for any mistreatment; you have encountered for U.S. (Americans). We are not to stereotype and prejudge people. Just like we are not all bad people with destructive behaviors. Not all people in the nation and continents are bad people with destructive behavior. Can I just go down memory lane about the people I have been friends with for years and the encounters I have had with people from other nations and continents. When I was growing up in the 80’s and 90’s yes I enjoyed school except for math class. But the number 1 thing we enjoyed as American students was having a foreign exchange student. We embraced learning about other culture, we ate lunch, played with them at recess, grew to love and became best friends with some of them.
I have had many good memory with people from other nations and continents. For instance my first pay roll job was delivering newspapers in New Jersey many of you was my customers.
My second pay roll job was McDonald many of you was my co-worker and customers’.
My most favorite moment was when I was a Army JROTC student. This was my very first military ball. I wanted to look outstanding and beautiful for myself; because I cannot say for my date. My classmate Sean and I was best friends.
Never the less my Dad took me to this little store in Brownsmill, NJ. When I walked in I seen Vietnamese people. The little lady treated me like she knew me all my life. Oh my God she was so sweet and caring. She said ‘come here sweetie, we are going to make you beautiful.’
The first attires she picked out she said ‘me don’t like for you’. So she went to pick something else. She came out with a long white gown, long black gloves and some beautiful black heels. I went to the dressing room. Once my completeness of being dressed I came out. My Dad and her said ‘oh my God you are beautiful.’
I fell in love with this lady character. She was so friendly. I begin to go visit her at that store just about every week buying other products, mainly I wanted to make sure she was ok.
Later on I learned that it would be another business that captivated my heart with their service. Little did I know it would be walking distance from house in Pemberton, NJ. This Chinese restaurant was located in the place we called the burrow. As we had pass it many times riding by it. I took upon myself to walk to it one day.
As I was walking I was gambling in my mind to myself. I betcha this Chinese restaurant is not as good as the one in Baindoridge, GA. The Chinese people in had became my best friends. They knew me all the way through. When I walked in they knew exactly what I was going to order. We talked about everything. Nevertheless, so I walked into the new Chinese Restaurant. I hadn't changed my clothes. I still had on my army JROTC uniform. The lady and gentlemen said to me, are you military. I said no sir and ma'am. I am Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp. I am planning on going to basic training hopefully thro summer. Then their was pause - because they was admiring my uniform - asking questions about my merits and my duties as a private 1st class. I ordered my food and went to sit. The customers was coming in slow that particular day. So they had a lot of free time on their hand. They came over and sit at the table with me. I complimented them on how good the food was. (It was delicious, yummy!) We talked about the military, army JROTC, my dreams, long/short term goals and Robbies. Every week when I had a free opportunity I would go eat and talk to them. Moving along I've worked for Indian people at a couple of hotels. I served a lot of because you are special to me. To the one I met in foster care my Hispanic sister Magdalena; I value you. I don't know where you are today. Maybe one day we will come across each other's pathway again. I love you. I couldn't have made it in fostercare if it wasn't for Magdalena. We encouraged each other. When I had to leave her I cried. I want to leave you with this final word to our nations and continents. If our country people has offended you in any type of way, please forgive us. Because we want to live in peace with others. We looking forward to no more conflicts or bombings. Today I want to say you are valuable to us. Thank you for the service you bring to our country America. It could be a friendly Hello or when we come to visit you. Thank you for your kindness.
