Execution Day

Yes—it's August 24. Catfish has 11 hours to live. It's bothering me. I know the brother would rather die than spend his life in prison being told where to go, what to do, putting up with staff abuse corruption, and the idiotic behavior of inmates; but it still doesn't make me feel any better. State assisted suicide—that's what this amounts to. Been thinking about him since I woke up. Was thinking about him when I went to sleep.

I remember us speaking in May or June, and I told him, "Bro, I don't want to see you die!" He saw the sadness. He tried to comfort me, saying he won't do life in prison. He'd rather go to heaven. Still didn't make me feel any better. I know he doesn't want it, but I'm hoping the United Sates Supreme Court steps in and stops the execution, and looks at the retroactivity of Hurst. 'Cause he—we were sentenced under an unconstitutional statue. Hurst v. Florida, 136 Sct. 616 (2016), Hurst v. State. 202, SO, 3d, 40 (Flo. 2016), Hurst v. State, 202, 503d 40 (Flo 2016). It's unequivocal that Florida's death penalty statute that Mark Asay was sentenced under is unconstitutional, violating the 6th and 8th Amendments.

12:01 PM. Catfish has 6 hours left to live. I'm sure Gloria is a mess. She loves her brother. I pray the US Supreme will step in.

5:30 PM. Well, the brother has less than an hour to live. Seen Gloria on the news crying. Dang, I broke out in tears seeing her crying and hurting. An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, but we know that's bull. 'Cause a rich man isn't going in that death chamber.

6:53 PM. Seen it on the news. Catfish was pronounced dead at 6:22 PM.

Yes, it made the world a better place, didn't it? No. All it did was open up old wounds and created new ones, and caused the taxpayers a lot of money to commit this homicide in their name. yes, in the name of God, justice and the American way, we murder our poor undesirable citizens. Great system, huh? Best in the world! Yes, best in the world at creating a facade of equality.

I shall pray for Catfish and his family, as well as the family of the victims. May God bless them all, and may God correct this broken system. 'Cause the heavens opened up. It poured lightening and thunder during this state sanctioned MURDER! Open your eyes and speak against this. God bless you all.

Respectfully written,
Ronald W. Clark
