Thoughts on Donald Trump

I'm reluctant to dump on Trump. So many others are doing so that if I do so, it'd threaten the reputation I'm trying to cultivate as an iconoclast. But, damn, he's such a f-ing disgrace, such a pathological liar, etc.!

I apologize to the world for voicing my support for him when we was seeking the R nomination. What I liked about him was:
1.) promise to destroy ISIS
2.) promise to end NAFTA, CAFTA, other "free trade" fiascos
3.) end to illegal immigration (overwhelms social services, etc.)

One of the stupider things I've done. I did also voice my support for Bernie Sanders!

There've been some excellent—witty and gritty with inside facts—articles published in Vanity Fair (www.vanityfair.com), such as "In Trump's Amerika" (April '17) and "The Westeros Wing" (May), but the one that shows how catastrophically dangerous Trump's arrogant stupidity is is in the Sept. '17 issue, "The 5th Risk" by Michael Lewis about how Trump and his flunky Rick Perry's idiocy is a plain threat to our lives. Lewis has some darlings too, such as this too-true parting one:

"...if you are seeking to preserve a certain worldview, it actualy helps to gut science. Trump's budget, like the social forces behind it, is powered by a perverse desire—to remain ignorant. Trump didn't invest this desire. He is just its ultimate expression."

And most of Trump's major likes were described in a 25 June '17 full page spread.

What's bizarre to many, me included, is that he he still has a core of supporters! How could someone support such a liar and idiot (staring into the sun during the eclipse—WTF!?)?

The answer is artfully stated in Lewis's forenoted quote. Hillary was right yet foolish in her "basket of deplorables" remark. Trump is merely the political projection of many people, which shows the deplorable character and lack of wisdom and decency in most of those Trump voters cared more about hoarding their money than health care; they cared more about stopping abortions than educating and nurturing the unwanted babies they're trying to make so those babies have a chance at life; they cared more about feelings than substance; and Trump P.T. Barnumed them good!

But Trump voters aren't entirely to blame for him. The DNC's leadership insisted that Hillary be their candidate, despite her own email baggage and her husband's Ryder truck-full of baggage, etc. Voters had to choose a scoundrel or a narcissistic, corrupt tyrant. Then, rather than trying to win over and enlighten somewhat rural, blue-collar whites and extreme evangelicals, Hillary chose to insult them from pretty low moral ground.

But Trump is great!

Why?

Because he's shown us what our politicians are with no frosting on top—shit cakes. Trump clearly does not care for the people, for their health, their education, their environment, the safety of their food, water, drugs. He's like a crackhead version of Tommy Thompson whom the deplorables in WI loved.

Conservatives hate Trump 'cause he's pulled off their covers, shown us how they really feel, their real values, their hatred for everyone "else," their arrogant idiocy. This is why Trump is great.

After four years of Trump, maybe voters will be sick enough to vote in a less oppressive tyrant, a neo-lib turd. We'll see.

I'll part with this quote by Conservative columnist/blogger Christian Schneider (christian.schneider@jrn.com) in his 27 Aug '17 article in the Milu. Journal-Sentinel, "Trump retreats on Wall":

"The main problem in any democracy is that crowdpleasers are generally brainless swine who can go out on stage and whup their supporters into an orgiastic frenzy—then go back to office and sell every one of the poor bastards down the table for a nickel a piece."
—Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72

I think many Trump supporters realize all this, but they're more concerned with Trumping their noses at Hillary and the DNC for calling and seeing them as deplorable.
