Dear Rita:

Hi, how are you doing? I hope great.

I am finally able to type. I must use one hand for now, but I can move without too much pain. My left arm is in bad shape, but I hope it is healing properly. I'm sure you've got the email, but last month I tore my left biceps muscle off the bone while working here in the prison. I am finally up to 35 cents per hour working, and I need the money. We were told to carry 300 pound sheets of metal to the trash truck. Me and one other guy did this and, long story short, I was hurt. I had surgery in the hospital on May 8th and now I rest, heal, and do nothing.

I'm so glad you had so many wonderful visits with George. I think it's amazing for you.

Please keep me updated about your 23andme Ancestry kit when you know the results. I have always been fascinated by my ancestors. I have tried connecting with the ones in this country that I have never met, but my family is very selfish. They have no Internet. When my grandmom died in 2006, she was the glue that held our family together.

Please forgive me for taking so long to respond. After I was hurt at work, I couldn't use my left arm for almost anything. Then after the surgery, it just hurts so badly. I will have rehab therapy soon and begin stretching my arm.

I don't know why Melanie disappeared on me. She said I hurt her feelings, but that was never my intention. I apologized to her many times, but she is not willing to speak with me anymore. So I lost a friend. But you have my friend Jen's information, so I can always be reached through her.

We have two new puppies here, Licorice and Gracie. Two gorgeous little girls who love to play and poop everywhere. Those babies are fun to play with.

I can only open my left arm halfway. Everything is shorter now inside so I have 4-6 months of rehab to fix the problem. I am trying to find a lawyer now who will sue. When I returned from the hospital, they gave me two regular Tylenol! I had major surgery, I was on the table for over an hour, and when I returned to prison four hours later, I get Tylenol. Plus, I should have never been forced to do the work I was made to do. So I search for a lawyer now.

I haven't talked to my daughter in a few weeks. She doesn't always answer her phone. I love my little drama queen, but I do miss her.

I have been working hard at my job as Vice President, and I am getting over 20 politicians in here to meet with us lifers. We are hoping to show them that some lifers do deserver a second chance. They are letting out juvenile lifers who have killed two, three, or four people, but they will not let out some lifers who didn't kill anyone and have been model prisoners for over 40 years. I don't understand that. So I am speaking up for the elderly men who have given up all hope.

Well, my friend, my arm is tired. I can only type with one hand, so it is time for me to go. Take care of yourself. Treasure your moments with George, and I hope you are having a wonderful day. Ciao, amica mia.
