Good Things, Too/ And Needless

by James Collins (author's profile)

Transcription

Good Things, Too

What I do not want
Tries to pile up in my mind
Then Satan extends position

There's the good things, too
Pictures of Beauty—colors, colors, colors
Kittens that come to stay
Upon beds and laps they lay
Purring day and night
They are part of family ties
And they let all know it

—James Collins

Needlessness

Life's reminder
That is good to be alive
Same wounds—just a different day.

I carry needless burden
Can I write with compassion
Love that I've never known
Listen for music in human heart
A world held up by ink

We need not keep distance
God chastes our writers
Given to written smells
That the Lord somehow brings to life
Love splashed with ink
