A new day

It's great to see that someone is still reading this. I was kind of giving up that it was of any use.

Really good to know you're out there, Brother Turner. I think of you often. Semper fi!

The weeks are flying by as I continue to keep my class schedule booked solid. Good practice for getting back into mental sharpness for a real world schedule.

The veterans here (only six of us) have been working hard to put together a special Patriot Day event of teamwork focused events. We're nearly there, and it looks like it will be a good experience. A 5K run is included as well, as the local VFW presenting the colors with a color guard and bugle playing of "Taps".

One of the guys here will be singing the national anthem. He has a great voice, and a good man with positive influence. In his old life, he was big gang chief, a leader. But he has turned his life around.

It's all about keeping me really busy, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be here. Hopefully this is a model for Illinois prisons going forward.
