"CAGED UP"
By Ronald W. Clark Jr
The FDOC has holding cells/cages that they place men and women in, sometimes for five, six hours at a time. These cages are so small that people my size are sitting there with their knees pressed up against the bars. There's only room enough to sit or stand. On top of this tiny cage, your restrained in shackles, handcuffs that have a black box covering them, which turns the handcuffs into a torture device, putting more pressure on your wrist. And the black box and cuffs are attached to waist chains further restricting your movement! So your sitting in these tiny cage with all these extremely uncomfortable restraints on for hours. You even have to eat lunch with all of this on!! Yes this is just flat out inhumane!! My trips to RMC the past two weeks, has caused me to lose feeling in my left hand. It feels as tho its a sleep. And its from them black boxes putting pressure on the wrist. Which is why I'm speaking out against it! Cause enough is enough! This needs to be brought to the attention of FDOC Secretary Mark Inch, and ask him to look into reviewing and changing these policies and procedures. I can understand the need for either or, if the inmates are unruly and misbehaving. But to do this to ever inmate as procedure, is just absolutely uncalled for!! This is torture!! And it needs to be brought to a halt. I'm pleading with you to send a letter of protest to Secretary Mark Inch and have him review this procedure and change it.
Thank you for your time and help. God bless you.
Sincerely Ronald W. Clark Jr.
