SUIT UP IN 2020
We have lived on Earth for many generations and not without consequence to our species. This current epidemic not being the first, the worst, or the last by any means.
What if COVID-19 changes how we live—making masks a necessity along with social distancing? All the years of a somewhat safe world (statistically) at an end, with new years of precaution upon us. As if we were suddenly slid over to some different parallel Earth, a planet not so friendly, surrounded by viruses ready to grab hold from any surface.
Sounds like sci-fi, and that's because for decades—it has been sci-fi. But epidemics are always potentialities. It may not be COVID-19 that does us in, but the world now has a good idea of what can happen and how fast things traverse the globe in a modern world that socializes at near instant speeds across every border.
We see in a lot of sci-fi movies where denizens of some post-epidemic (or war torn) world have to suit up before going out each day. Putting on a mask—or in some areas, full hazard gear.
Before 2020 we gathered in groups outsizing anything our ancestors ever envisioned for us and, medically speaking, that poses many red flags concerning contagion. Not to say we cannot have our sports or music events back, but it might become vital that we're mask-clad when in cities or large groups. Earth won't always be a perfect Goldilocks world. There will come times when extreme changes will occur, affecting the way we live. This possibly being one of them.
Whatever you do, don't read a virology textbook!
If you do, you'll never want to leave the house again...
