Unfortunately, I was unable to avoid the COVID pandemic. In early July, as the COVID ran the rampart throughout San Quentin, it caught me. So far, it killed 25 people here, including a close friend; so, I am very grateful to still be here.
That's beautiful that you got to see Just Mercy!!! Recently, I was able to see it myself. Previously, I read the book to work on the project. The book goes into greater detail on Stevenson's philosophy of Mercy for the under-represented, his clients, & the maltreatment they received, both in & out of the courts.
You're absolutely correct, one cannot defend oneself against an accomplished liar; esp., when that liar is supported by a system of authorized liars. However, we, as a collective whole, can defend ourselves against such a draconian system, as the current protestors/insurrectionists are demonstrating. (Btw, I am posting MY SOUNDTRACK for the rebellion.) Also, we are of the same mind re America's hypocrisy & "audacity to challenge" other nations' judicial systems; e.g., check out my earlier post: A Tale of Two Injustices. There, I spoke on this very hypocrisy, & highlighted Texas wrongfully executing an innocent man.
