Initiate Justice Inside Organizer
As a certified Inside Organizer, Maurice Harris actively participates in civic engagement with the California legislative system through their service. When incarcerated people are more civically engaged, studies show their recidivism rates decrease, while their concern for community matters and the law increase. Maurice Harris's responsibilities will contribute to a community of social justice advocates and volunteers. This contribution will assist others in learning how the California legislative process works, writing legislators regarding pending legislation and discussing the importance of civic engagement with other incarcerated people and their loved ones on the outside.
