If you're a regular reader, I recall that after my birthday in 2019 I wrote about having a weird experienced and being inspired to start a new program with the BOP.
I sent the endorsed proposal to Ms. Dukes in late 2019, but she said she was busy. I emailed her twice during this past year's lockdown/quarantine, with no response. I was recently able to speak with her, and she said that she's gotten a new job and they haven't filled the Re-Entry Coordinator job yet.
So...I take this to you, dear Reader. Pardon me for saying this, but I think this is a good direction for prison reform - to make it more of a job training institute.
As I mentioned in my notes, you could have (staff supervised) interviews via Skype or some other software. The staff supervisor could give interview reviews/tips after each interview.
The BOP Central Office could set up a database of BOP-friendly companies who will hire inmates, and other resources for the whole country.
The TLC's are a perfect set-up for someone who has nowhere to go when they get out of prison.
If I were released now, I would not be allowed to go to a halfway house in Florida. I would be released to the streets with nothing.
I can set up a program where each inmate has a job, a temporary apartment, and a portfolio with doctor references, grocery shopping, public transportation-everything you need to restart your life.
