Ego Thoughts
I am never a victim of my thoughts unless I want to be. I can choose to overlook my ego thoughts and say I'm not really responsible because I lack awareness. Or I can acknowledge these thoughts yet choose to be destructive anyway "because the temptation is just too great."
But there is never total awareness! No hardwiring, "basic nature" or inner demons can force me to betray my higher mind. However, I may justify betrayal of myself or others. I alone choose to be a victim of my thoughts.
