Dr. Phil,
I watch your show daily. The thing I like most about it is that if someone truly reaches out to you for help you leave no stone unturned with assisting them in their recovery or help they seek.
I'm writing because I too need help... My name is Marcus T. Rogers Jr. I was born in Southern California and throughout my life I've lived all over the country. The one thing that has been consistent in my life is my ability to make poor decisions that impact not only me in negative ways but so many others as well.
In my 30 years on this earth I have been incarcerated 14 to 15 years of it. Gangs, violence, and criminal activity has consumed my life for way too long. I've been in prison ten years now and I'm 3 1/2 years away from being released. The closer I get to that gate to go home... the more terrified I am, that I'll fail myself and others once again.
I've taken steps while in prison to grow and mature such as taking criminal thinking classes, anger management, re-entry courses, and got trained in vocational trades. Nonetheless once I walk out these gates I'll probably be on my own or have some support from family who will give me one more chance... I'm scared of facing reality having lived in the illusion of incarceration most of my life.
Dr. Phil, I don't want to fail this time and I want to work, go to college, receive counseling and do all that I can to make it out there... but I really want your help as well. I KNOW you won't let me fail or rather you won't let me be free and not have access to what I need to be successful should I choose.
Dr. Phil, will you please help me?
