Greetings, Carlos 14:

Yes, your note was worth writing! Not only did it take my mind away from this hellhole, it lifted my spirit to know that my life story could may help someone out from making the same mistake that I did. The reason that I did the interview was to tell my story and to let people know, especially our young people, know that the choices we make in life have consequences that could affect the rest of their lives and the people who love and care about us.

I have not seen the interview yet because this prison doesn't have the MSNBC channel, so I don't know the reaction from viewers. But I'm elated to know that you were able to use my story to put a realistic front in the face of your beloved kids to let them know that life has real consequences and they should always stop and think before they act.

I'm adjusting well to general pop, but my biggest challenge is living in a small cell with another human being/prisoner after so many years of isolation. I'm dealing with it. :(

The situation with the ice wifter was to let people know sometimes it's those simple things in life that we often take for granted that can mean the most. Instead of crying over what we don't have, we need to appreciate what we do have. You feel me? No, I'm not a bad person! I just made a bad choice which has affected my life in ways I never imagined. Since being in prison, I've lost both my beloved parents and they were the only family support I had, so part of my soul died with them. But knowing that I am thought about gives me hope. Sometimes all you need is a little hope, and it helps to know that someone cares.

Thank you for caring enough to write, and I wish you and your family the best.

Peace and love,
Christopher Trotter

Hello, Christopher,

How are you doing? Last time I wrote you I had mentioned that we had just seen you on TV and I had my son watch in amazement your comments about drinking ice water after 10 years. Hope you remember us. Anyway, I hope this letter finds you with lifted spirits and a better comfort level while in general population. Have you gotten used to sharing a cell after so long? Things out in California are pretty good. Living out here is still very expensive, and the weather has been stormy at best these days. I assume your getting quite a bit of mail after the airing of your story, and by the looks of all the postings on this website, folks are keeping you busy with letters and hopefully new friendships. In your last letter you had mentioned that you have lost both your parents over time, and for that I am sorry. Not sure if you have much family or not so you know that you have our moral support. Again, you are still a topic of conversation in our home. Regards, Carlos H.
