I think California state prisons are in very bad shape. They are still very overcrowded and the medical care is terrible. More changes need to be made.

I think the news media needs to be more informed about California sentencing laws; they give way too much time (especially life sentences) for first time offenders, and the third strike law should be eliminated, or make the third strike a serious felony and not a non-serious felony. A lot of inmates are getting life for just stealing a candy bar or something similar.

I also think they are doing witch hunts for any sex crime. They are giving way too much time (mostly life) for first timers. Also they should treat everyone the same. If you're a police man or someone famous, you get a light sentence for the same sex crime. If you're a first timer, you shouldn't get a life sentence.

I think the media should be more informed of the medical cart in prisons. I have seen many inmates die in my prison because the doctors here wouldn't help them. They just tell the sick inmates nothing's wrong with them and it's all in their heads; the next day, they die. I have been trying to get help for my nerve damage in my lower back and left leg (and bad left knee) for almost three years, and they still haven't helped me. Even though my left leg has become half the size of my right leg and I can barely walk—with a limp.

I think inmates like me need free legal help from lawyers to help us sue the prisons and doctors here when they neglect our medical needs, like myself. If you would like to help me, please contact me. Thanks.
