This is my second blog, in less than a week. Partly, so that I can get the hang of blogging, but mainly like I saidbefore, my voice can be heard now. NO, I will not be ranting and raving about the injustice of prisons or prison life (A LOT) smile, but more about just life's issues.

I will say this about prison and prisoners and this is not intended to scare you, but to educate those who have no knowledge of the prison system. For the most part, a lot of prisoners are people you would, could, will and do see and converse with every day, unless you live on a deserted island. It is imperative that you impress upon the seriousness to your elected officials, to not just lock prisoners up and treat them less than human, but to try and educate those that want it. They have stopped so many of the treatment, vocational, college and educational programs in prisons all over the country.. Now it is all about draconian tactics and treatment, and most of you may be like that's what you get. However, you must understand that the majority of prisoners will be released back into society. Most of the time, they get out with nothing... 'NO EDUCATION, NO TREATMENT FOR THEIR MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS, NO VOCATIONAL... NO, NOT A THING, BUT MORE ANGER. THEN THEY STEP OUT AND THEY ARE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST WHEN IT COMES TO HOUSING, JOBS, ETC. ETC!' So, all I am saying is try to be a little less judgmental and more skeptical, but also more opening minded. I hope I just made a little sense with that last sentence? It is a juggling act, but most of us will get out. If there are jobs and opportunities out there, then we will be less likely to commit other crimes.

Okay, that is about that, now let's talk about these elections! I know people feel all kinds of craziness about politics, I know I do. I am a political junky! I stay on C-SPAN, world news and all the Sunday Morning Talk Shows. It is very important to vote, especially with so much at stake. You have people out there that actually want the new Health Care Reform Law overturned. Why? Because there are people who despise President Obama, or are scared due to the financial situation we are in as a country. President Obama, has been office almost 2 years and it is not easy, with all that is going on in the country, but we have a president that could be great if giving the chance. Do you really want to put the Republicans back in power now? All they have done is over-mind everything that's been done this past 2 years. Health insurance for all, people with existing health care problems can do longer be denied coverage. Requiring doctors to stop taking unnecessary test and charging outrageous prices. Get doctors into preventative care, instead of letting a unnecessary health problem occur.

This is just part of the good the new health care reform law does, but they also passed a financial reform law, so that banks can no longer engage in outlandish practices, too big to fail companies are no longer and will get no more handouts from the public. That is just some of what the new financial law does.

President Obama, is investing in education and young adults. Encouraging the youth to believe in Themselves, to educated themselves. Malcolm X said, 'EDUCATION IS OUR PASSPORT TO THE FUTURE. FOR TOMORROW BELONGS TO THOSE WHO PREPARE FOR IT TODAY.'

This president has done so much for this country at a time when we really needed someone like him in office. You must stand by him and you have to vote Nov. 2nd, my birthday is Nov. 10, so that would be a nice birthday present to me. SMILE. Seriously though, get up and vote. President Obama never lied to you. He said, IT wouldn't be easy. It has taken a long time to get into this mess, it won't be undone overnight. He also said, He would tackle problems that would make him unpopular, problems that have been left on the wayside too long and has infested this country. There are those that have and the have nots. Unless people stand up and fight for their rights you will always have nothing. I don't believe that everyone wants to be rich, but if you want a education, you should be able to afford it. If you get sick you should not have to worry about if you can afford it. If you invest (in trust) your money in a bank, that bank should not take unnecessary risk "WITH YOUR MONEY, THEN BE BAILOUT" AND NOTHING IS DONE.

You must vote this November, if you allow the republicans to take control of the House and Senate, we are all in trouble. That is not even counting the Tea Party Group. I will not speak on them, but you all watch the news and see all the mess they talk. GET YOUR BUTSS UP AND VOTE, BECAUSE IF YOU DON"T, NOVEMBER 3, YOU WILL REGRET IT.

MY YANKEES DIDN'T MAKE THE WORLD SERIES! I know for a lot of people they like that. The Evil Empire, is what most of the country calls them, but to me that is just plain jealousy. I mean because they have the money, doesn't make them evil, if other teams had the money they would do the same thing... SO STOP HATING! Smile.

Well, I will close now but before I do I would like to share some of my poetry with you. I have not written any poetry in a while, I have to be inspired and nothing has inspired me in a while. Anyway tell me what you think, I am not very good, but I try.

WHERE TRUE LOVE IS FOUND

ME DAYS ARE LONG, MY LOVE
AND SOMETIMES FILLED WITH FEAR
I WILL ALWAYS OVERCOME, MY LOVE
AND SOON HOLD YOU EVER SO NEAR....
YOU HAVE TAUGHT ME SO MUCH, MY LOVE
LIKE HOW TO TRUST AND SHARE
AND WITH YOU I'M SAFE TO CRY, MY LOVE
NO MATTER WHAT I SAY YOU CARE...
LOVE ISN'T DEFINED BY DIAMOND RINGS, MONEY
OR ANY MATERIAL THING
FOR IT IS WITHIN EACH OTHER, MY LOVE
WHERE TRUE PASSION AND DESIRE ARE SEEN....

Well tell me if you like, and tell me if my blogs are too long. Be honest you won't hurt my feelings... Okay, maybe a little, but still be honest. Smile. Also, if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I know a lot of people are curious about prisons and it is understandable. So if you have something you would like to know...

RESPECTFULLY,
TEZE

P.S. Please excuse my many typing errors. I do my best! Smile

Your blog posts are great Teze! I like your poetry especially.

I'm going to vote tomorrow but the bigger problem seems to be that prisons are just invisible. Neither democrats or republicans really run on platforms that are trying to improve or hurt the quality of life in prisons. They mostly just don't talk about it one way or another.

How do you think we can make this issues more visible.

Also, although I grew up in Seattle, I've lived in the home of the Red Sox for long enough that I can't sympathize with feeling sorry for the Yankees. :)

Keep it up!

Teze,

I enjoyed reading your blog. Its great to see how politically conscious you are. I wish more people were as interested with the problems facing our nation as you appear to be.

I would be interested to hear your opinions and ideas on some other issues, whatever you feel the most passionate about. I'll be checking in
