If

If I made you my new Afrikan black queen and sat you
on my throne...
would you give your whole self to me and always remember
that together is where we belong?
If I came home and put on our favorite love song...
would you rock-n-roll with me, baby, all night long?
If I place my heart in your hands...
would you handle it with care and love it like no other
woman can?
If you knew I'd sacrifice my honor, my wealth, my life
and the whole world for you...
would you to me always remain faithful, loyal, and true?
If you knew deep inside that I've always loved you and
never meant to hurt you or cause you any pain...
would you forgive me for my past mistakes and free me
from the wrath of a woman's scorn?
If fate and misfortune took me away from you for many
many years...
Would you not find it hard to believe that almost every night my
heart cried out for you and my eyes swell with tears?

*This is a poem reminiscing about a former girlfriend/lover I had named Karen. I originally wrote it in July 2008.
