"Is animal testing a problem!?!"
The question of animal testing has been around for many years now. Many people are 100% for the testing, many are 100% against it, and then there are those who are straddling the fence about the topic.
Surely, there are multitudes of pros and cons as to such testing. One of the pros is that human beings share about 99% of their genes with chimpanzees and on only slightly fewer with other monkeys. As a result, the reactions of these creatures are a very good guide to possible reactions of human patients. Even lower down the scale, other animals share the same basic physiology with humans. Just the same, one con to counter such a pro is that most animal experiments are done on animals that are nothing like humans, such as mice and rats which completely undermine the argument that these experiments are a reliable guide to human reactions.
My personal view on such testing is simply along the lines of equal rights and protection of all human beings, animals and all of creation. If human beings took the initiative to stop poisoning themselves with processed foods, artificial foods, overeating, lack of exercise, drug usage, and the multitudes of other self inflicting woes, we wouldn't need to do all this cruel animal testing. We're continuously contaminating the earth's atmosphere with pollution, draining the oceans of its natural resources, chopping down rainforest and jungles while killing off species after species.
That said, the question is not about the pros and cons of animal testing, it is more so about human beings wishing for all of creation that which they wish for themselves (i.e. equal rights and protection coupled with living a responsible healthy lifestyle).
We are killing ourselves and we're using that as an excuse to be cruel and unusual to animals. Something I'm totally against.

What are some thoughts and opinions you all have about animal testing - global warming and equal rights!?!?
