Dear Donna,

I cannot imagine that you would want to hear from me, so I will try to be brief. I hope you will pardon this intrusion.
My name is Daniel Womack. I am one of the people who murdered Steve Carey more than twelve years ago. I am writing to tell you that I am very sorry for my actions that night and for causing you the terror and grief that I know you must have felt.
I cannot imagine the fear you experienced at having witnessed such horrific violence and not knowing if you would be harmed. I am ashamed of myself for having caused you to live such a nightmare.
I will never dare ask your forgiveness. I am not sure such horror can be forgiven, and I will never expect it to be. I only want you to know that I am sorry for my actions and my failures, sorry for not having been man enough to avoid violence, and sorry for having made you part of my destruction.
I hope you find peace.

Very sincerely,

Daniel W. Womack
