Today's Church

"Today's Church"

Today's church does not hold to the teachings of the biblical text. They have become self-righteous, money-hungry, materialistic scavengers that prey upon the human need and desire for spiritual guidance. The proof is right here before you eyes. View Matthew Chapter 19 verses 16-25. The rich men and Jesus. Jesus tells the rich man what to do, in order to follow him. And in verse 19 Jesus says "love your neighbour as yourself." When Jesus tells him in verse 21 to go sell his possessions, he doesn't tell the rich man to give his possessions or money to the church or synagogue. No, he says give it to the "POOR." The man goes away sad, because he wasn't going to give up his wealth. Today's church is all about the money they can bring in. Preachers driving expensive cars, living in expensive homes, having big salaries wearing thousand dollar suits. And look at the Roman Church, it's worth billions of dollars; fine buildings, cloth, gold, paintings and all types of worldly wealth.

What's the 2nd greatest commandment? "Love your neighbour as yourself!" Are the churches and its elders following that commandment? Absolutely not! Yet it's reiterated over and over again; Matthew 5:34, 19:19, Mark 12:31, Luke 10:27, Romans 13:9, Galatians 15:14 and James 2:8. And Jesus explains who your neighbour is in Luke 10:30-37. Is the church and its elders loving us as a neighbour? No! Is it picking us up, brushing us off, treating us poor as they are treating themselves? No! The church and its elders are hoarding money and valuable materialistic items that are making their lives more comfortable, as the poor struggle. They are not loving their neighbours as they love themselves and that is blatantly evident!

Jesus addressed this hoarding in Matthew 6:25-34, specifically look at verse 26. Jesus states "look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" Jesus goes on in verse 32 to say the pagans run after such things and today's church is doing exactly that. Chasing financial gain, sowing, reaping and storing away billions of dollars. Jesus warned of these false prophets in Matthew 7:15-23 and the churches of today are filled with them. People "Christians" should not be giving to these churches. For Jesus could not have been more clear Matthew 19:21 give it to the poor.

I've asked the churches in the past for assistance in retaining counsel, or just for small financial donations. They would deny this request stating they are only concerned with my soul. Would they turn themselves away from financial assistance? No, of course not, but they're not concerned with loving you as they love themselves. Jesus said in Matthew 5:42 "give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you."

Today's churches are filled with money-hoarding con-artists, who will lie through their teeth, being false prophets, saying "we are doing it for the poor," when in actuality, they're doing it for themselves. They do not live or abide by the biblical text, other than twisting it and manipulating it for their own financial gain. It's a crying shame, but the evidence is right there before your very eyes.

In peace and love

Hi Ronnie,

I don´t think you can say that that general way.

Just think of people like Mother Teresa who is a representative of the church too and would never have wanted to be considered as something different - just one example.

I agree with you that alot was and is going wrong with the church (I´m only talking about the Roman Catholic one because I´m not so firm about the inner affairs of other churches.)
The problem began, in my eyes, when the Christian community changed from a persecuted or just tolerated minority to a political power. Power makes corrupt, human beings are fallible for power and money - Christians should be exceptions but they aren´t, at least not all.
That´s probably the reason why Jesus announced that not everyone who calls him "Lord" will be going to heaven.

But on the other hand I have contact with so many really good projects run by the church where the Christians and their missionaries are the only ones caring about poor people (for example the Dalits in India - does that tell you something?)....
That´s where no one else cares.

I´m sorry you didn´t find the help you were looking for but not giving you anything does not mean that ALL poor people are refused.
You know, most people have the problem that their names are not Rockefeller or Onassis so they can only spend a certain amount - and then they´ll sort out what and whom they´ll give something for.
