What's Eating Gilbert, Nate?
dated 16 March 2013
Unfortunately there's nobody by me named Gilbert, yet I am being eaten akin to Gilbert Grape in the morbidly funny and too white-trash true 90s movie with his name in its title. After hearing a fanatical Black Baptist/gangsta/hustler/misogynist/seriously-mentally-ill prisoner down the hall screaming about how the Harry Potter franchise is a conspiracy by Satan against the world's youth, replying that the same could be said about The Picture Bible and Sunday school, that people who believe in witchcraft are just as insane (though less dangerous as fanatical Christians + other monotheists, which incited that disciple of Christ to threaten to throw piss, shit + Magic Shave on me if I went to rec (here, like at W.S.P.F., only steel wire separates us from others at rec). This, OBVIOUSLY, offended my intelligence + I pointed out that Jesus wouldn't approve the sort of baptism he had planned, + he'd not be allowed into the very heaven he believed in + the God he loved (or thought he did) would damn him to hell for the way he insults + threatens - sexually - the female staff that come around, etc.
This situation, I guess, will seem absurd to most readers, but it's fairly normal in seg. units for putative Muslims and Christians to scream their religion with the same mouth that they scream threats, murder, etc. with.
I no longer go to rec, which isn't terrible, because I'm busy preparing my second book for www.prisonsfoundation.org, a combination of art + essays. You're all invited to check out EM DAER, which is already on their web-site. Please let the world know.
What's eating me is a desire to create works that are as great as I can muster to benefit man + womankind + inspire people to ask, "Why did society bury him in a prison cell? What MORE could he have been or done if given a chance?"
We are pleased to announce a new book by Nathaniel Lindell
titled EM DAER
You can read or download this new Nathaniel Lindell book and other outstanding books by imprisoned authors free at www.PrisonsFoundation.org
It contains some of my best poems + lyrics, some which were posted here first.
Prisons Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by ex-prisoners that reaches out to imprisoned artists whose art we exhibit and sell at our numerous affiliated art galleries, to imprisoned playwrights whose work we present at the Kennedy Center, and to imprisoned authors whose books we publish.
